Terms and Conditions
The following Terms & Conditions covers services by the groomer and/or salon. By making an appointment, you are agreeing that you have read and accepted these terms and conditions, and hereby release the salon from any responsibility of the below-mentioned process and all medical problems that may be uncovered and/or occur during the services. We are fully insured, but should my dog require veterinary care after or during the service, I hereby agree for the salon to seek veterinary services and to pay all fees if required.
Dog Safety
Due to the intimate nature of the grooming process, or a dog’s tolerance level for stress, strangers or handling, some dogs can become anxious or reactive during the grooming process.
If we determine that continuing the grooming service would present a threat to your dog’s emotional or physical health, and/or the safety of the groomer completing the service, we will discontinue today’s service and contact you immediately. In the event this happens, I understand I will be responsible for any services rendered.
We will take every precaution necessary to complete the grooming service safely and humanely, using appropriate industry safety equipment including; grooming loops, muzzles and restraints. I grant permission to the salon to utilise the correct restraints for the health and safety of my dog and grooming service provider.
Your dog(s) must be fully vaccinated, wormed and flea-treated in advance of their appointment.
Any known allergies to food, environmental elements, products etc. must be disclosed at the time of booking the appointment, and again when dropping off your dog(s) for their appointment. If your dog(s) have an unexpected allergic reaction to any products used or treats provided during their appointment, we cannot be held liable for subsequent veterinarian consultations or prescriptions.
Any known illnesses, injuries, sensitive areas etc. must be disclosed at the time of booking and again when bringing your dog(s) to their appointment.
We will provide health checks on your dog(s) and advise as necessary, but please note that we are not veterinarians or dog psychologists. We will try to help as much as possible and advise of any perceived negative health, welfare, or behavioural indicators.
Matting
Matted coats can cause a variety of skin and health problems and do not allow the air to circulate to the skin, which can lead to hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin problems.
Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your dog when they move or lay on the mats. The skin underneath may be raw and inflamed. Matted coats will not dry properly which can also lead to skin infections.
If your dog’s coat is matted, your dog’s coat may need to be clipped extremely short and may show signs of skin irritation and sores.
Dogs that have not been groomed regularly may become stressed and find the grooming session painful.
It is our goal to make your dog’s grooming experience as stress free as possible. Sometimes, due to the condition of the coat, we may determine that the only humane thing to do is a shave down. This is a short clip, removing all the matting. It is unfeasible to de-mat/brush out the coat as this would cause excessive pain and suffering.
There is a strong chance that your dog’s skin will become more irritated during the clipping process. We recommend using a medicated shampoo to help soothe any irritation that may occur. Due to the mats being tight against the skin, the only way of removing them is to use a short blade to clip between the skin and mats he/she may be nicked/cut because we must work so closely to the skin. We are very careful, but the possibility of injury is there, and you need to be aware of this.
If your dog’s coat is matted, this may result in an increased fee, usually between £5 - £20 due to blunting of equipment and additional time incurred.
If fleas, ticks or other dermal parasites are discovered, these will be treated. If additional products, extra bathing, excessive removal or salon decontamination time is required, there will be additional charges, from £5.
Senior dogs
Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. Please make sure you have filled out your dog’s profile as fully as possible so the service provider is fully aware of any known medical issues before starting the service.
I understand that in the best interests of my dog, the salon/groomer may request immediate veterinary treatments. I am aware that this will be at my expense if emergency services are required.
I understand that senior dogs have a greater chance of injury during grooming. I will not hold the salon/groomer responsible for an accident or injury to my dog.
Pricing
The quote for the appointment is as accurate as possible, but may increase depending upon the actual time required for the groom - either from behaviour or coat condition. Please be as open as possible when booking, so that we can reserve the right amount of time for you and quote accurately.
Cancellation / Amendments to bookings
We request 48 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled grooming appointment before a rescheduling or cancellation request is made, so that we can offer the appointment to other clients with reasonable time.
If a rescheduling or cancellation request is made less than 48 hours before the appointment, or if the appointment is not attended, you will be charged your full deposit.
If you arrive late to your appointment, we will complete as much as we possibly can within the allocated time. We might not be able to give a full finish, if we are time-limited, but we will always endeavour to do our very best for you.
Please collect your dog at the agreed time. We have to allocate a member of staff to look after your dog if you are late, which compromises our ability to fullfill appointments for other dogs. After a 15-minute ‘grace period’, we reserve the right to charge £10 per 15 mins of ‘pet sitting’.
Marketing
Any photos or videos obtained during the appointment can be used for marketing purposes, unless the owner requests otherwise.
Parking
Cars and belongings are left at your own personal risk.
Injury to groomer
If a groomer receives a severe injury from your dog(s) which results in time off work (as confirmed, in writing, by a qualified physician), the owner will be responsible for paying for loss of earnings, at the value of £250/day (pet insurance will help in this scenario).
You must inform us of your dog(s)’ aggressive behaviours, towards dogs or people, when booking and again when dropping off your dog(s). Any previous grooming-related incidents must also be disclosed. This is so that we can safeguard all dogs and people on-site and provide an appointment and environment best suited to avoid injury.
If your dog is aggressive, or has had an aggressive past incident, please provide its own muzzle, as this will fit your dog best. We cannot guarantee a perfect haircut on the head, in the instance that a muzzle is worn.
Failure to agree with these Terms & Conditions will, unfortunately, result in the cancellation of your appointment(s).
